We seek to hire a full-time pastor of counseling and discipleship that would serve on our pastoral staff team. His primary focus would be counseling within our body and eventually developing a counseling ministry by helping to equip others. Other pastoral duties would include teaching adult Sunday school classes, preaching 3-4 times per year, and assisting with a men’s discipleship ministry.

Preference given to candidates with a B.A. or Masters in a ministry related field and certification in Biblical Counseling.

Salary is dependent on education and experience, expected to range from $60,000 – $85,000.

Matching retirement plan up to 6% of salary.

3-4 weeks of vacation per year, depending on experience, plus 8 personal days per year.

University Bible Church (UBC) is an independent Bible church with about 400 attendees on Sunday mornings in two services. The current pastoral staff team includes the senior pastor, pastor of worship and families, and a pastoral intern overseeing college ministry. Located in a college town, UBC has a range of ages including college students through retirees. The legacy of UBC has been expository preaching and developing men for ministry through our internship program.

Our church values Biblical Counseling. We currently have one member who is certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and more than a dozen people who have attended training through ACBC. Two of our missionaries are ACBC certified and are developing counseling training in east Asia and Thailand. Our desire is to add someone to our staff team who can give more devoted time to counseling (anticipated to be around 15-20 hours out of the week devoted to counseling) and develop additional lay counselors in our body.

UBC is located in Chubbuck, a smaller community adjacent to Pocatello, Idaho. Pocatello and Chubbuck combine for a population of 75,000. Outdoor activities in Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole, and the Sawtooth Recreation Area are all within a 2-3 hour drive. Closer to town there is a local ski hill and abundant hiking and mountain biking trails.
